So you're playing Star Trek Online and have some questions that need answering.
Well, look no further! All your answers are right here, in this FAQ. Never before has the phrase "Frequently Asked Questions" been more true.
This is perhaps the most frequently asked question in Zone Chats everywhere. To respec your skills, go to the Skill Trainer, which can be found on many space stations. There's Lt. Cmdr. Okret on Earth Spacedock, located in the center command area, and Lt. Cmdr. Tana on Deep Space 9, in the Docking Ring (Shipyard, "west" room).
Commander Akira Sulu can be found in the Admiral's office, right across from Admiral Quinn. If you're facing Quinn, Sulu is right behind you.
Check out our Galaxy article for a very handy and easy-to-use reference chart of all star systems and their locations.
In the center of Memory Alpha, there is a female Human officer, Commander Jenna Romaine. When you talk to her, click on the Store button. On the "Buy" tab, you can use various samples in conjunction with certain items in order to upgrade those items.
For example, if you have 5 [Radiation Sample]s, 5 [Alien Artifact]s, 5 [Mineral Sample]s, 2 [Animatter Sample]s, 2 [Biological Sample]s, 2 [Unknown Alloy]s, and 1 [Personal Shield Mk II], you can upgrade the Personal Shield to have better Shield Capacity (130 instead of 100). An extra 30 units of Shield Capacity makes all the difference. Besides, what else are you going to do with those samples? They're worth nothing if you sell them individually.
You will get an initial quest at Earth Spacedock from Lieutenant Commander E'genn to go see Jenna Romaine. This mission will get you started on collecting anomalies to trade with various vendors on Memory Alpha, which is the basis of crafting in the game.
To find out where things are in Earth Spacedock, check out the Earth Spacedock article. There's a map, NPC list, and a brief rundown of where everything is.
Visit the Cardassian tailor Ghemik Telur in the Requisitions area of Earth Spacedock. Check out the Earth Spacedock article for more information on exactly where that is.
You can spend Starfleet Merits on purchasing and training Bridge Officers. (See the next question for where to train Bridge Officers.)
Go to the Bridge Officer Trainer in the Personnel section of Earth Spacedock. Check out the Earth Spacedock article for more information on exactly where that is.
You get Badges and Honor by exploring unknown Systems. You will be introduced to exploration missions in the “To Boldly Go” mission, given by Admiral Quinn.
Spend all of your skillpoints and you will rank up.
When you reach Lieutenant Commander (see previous question), you will be able to get a new ship for only 1
. Subsequent ships in tiers available to your rank can also be purchased with Energy Credits.
On Earth Spacedock, look for the Shipyard section at the bottom-right area of the map. Take the ramp on the left side of the Shipyard to the second level door. Talk to Lieutenant Laurel at the desk.
If you just recently ranked up, see Admiral Quinn in person to get a new ship voucher, which allows you get a new ship for only 1
. If you have enough Energy Credits, you can buy additional ships.
Speak to Ensign Obin in the lower lever of the Shipyard to change your current ship.
Once you have your new ship you can rename it by bringing up your Status window (press U by default) and select Rename.
Every time you reach Grade 3 of a Rank you receive a generic space ability. Grade 5 gives you a class-specific ground ability, and at Grade 8 you receive a class-specific space ability.
A full list can be seen on the Player Abilities page.
That wasn't asked in the form of a question. But I'll let it slide. Send me an email and let me know what your question is. If it's something that's asked quite a bit, I'll add it above.
The Crystalline Entity is a tough fleet action available through the “Crystalline Catastrophe” mission, but there is a strategy available in our “Crystalline Catastrophe” Guide.
