Starship (classes)

Whether you are a dealer of damage or someone who prefers to stand back and help in more subtle ways will depend largely on your choice of starship and how you choose to customize it. While the customization will be a personal choice, and almost unique compared to other players, your selection of vessel type is subject to three choices for the Federation and 4 choices for the Klingon Empire.
Although all starships in the KDF are technically warships, they each have differences that separate them, whether through Bridge Officer stations, abilities, crew sizes or weapon slots.

Playable
The follow categories list the current playable ships in Star Trek Online by their respective faction. Each type of ship has multiple classes to it, which are explained on the starships article.

Non-playable
The ships in the following categories are not currently playable in Star Trek Online. They may become playable at some point in the future when/if Cryptic decides to add more factions. For the Federation and Klingon Empire sections, they represent the vessels that are seen in game but not under player control. Federation vessels not under player control are typically seen around starbases or space stations, or in the Azure Nebula. Klingon NPC vessels are much the same and appear throughout the Klingon Front for the Federation.
